Absence During Term Time

Please can we remind you about the regulations around taking your child out of school during term time. The Department for Education has some very clear guidelines around this which are detailed below:

'Headteachers should not grant leave of absence unless there are exceptional circumstances. The application must be made in advance and the Headteacher must be satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances based on the indvidual facts and circumstances of the case which warrant the leave. Where a leave of absence is granted, the Headteacher will determine the number of days a pupil can be away from school. A leave of absence is granted entirely at the Headteacher discretion' (School Attendance - Guidance for Maintained Schools, Academies, Independant School and Local Authorities - July 2019)

If, on a rare occasion, you need to request for your child to be absent from school other than illness, you must complete an Absence Request Form and return to the school office for the Headteacher to review.

Please click here to download an Absence Request Form.

If you need to keep your child off school becuase they are too ill to attend, please  inform the school office before 9am by telephoning 01793 534537.

It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school due to illness, so we have added a link to the NHS website which has information and guidance on most childhood illnesses.
