Snacks

We are proud to hold the Healthy Schools Award-Bronze and expect all parents to support the school with its healthy school’s ethos. All children have access to clean drinking water throughout the school day to keep them hydrated and healthy. During morning snack time the children will be encouraged to try other healthy drinks including juice and milk which we provide for cost £1 per week. This can be paid each week or we will invoice you for the amount due at the end of every short term. If you prefer you can send in a health snack with your child each day.

Snack food on offer is healthy and nutritious and at KS2 the children learn how to buy and prepare healthy snacks and meals to eat together. Children are taught it is acceptable to have ‘treats’ for special occasions including their birthday. So you are welcome to bring a cake into school for your child if you would like them to celebrate their birthday in class with their friends.

School Dinners

The Chalet School provides school dinners for all pupils that would like to order them at a cost of £2.40 per meal. The menu is sent home on a Friday for you to complete and we must have it completed and returned no later than Wednesday morning of the following week. This is so the order can be placed with Liden Primary School, who provides our school meals.

There are four menus in rotation throughout the school year, which are listed below. Your child can choose from having a hot meal or a packed lunch, with gluten free and vegetarian options available.

From Reception to year 2, pupils are entitled to Universal Free School Meals. All pupils are entitled to these regardless of whether you are in receipt of any financial support/benefits. However, we would ask that everyone who joins our school completes an On Line Application Form for free school meals with Swindon Borough Council. Once this has been completed it does not need to be filled in again. The reason for this is so as your child moves through the school, and the universal free school meals finishes at the end of year 2, your child will automatically receive funding for free school meals if entitled to them.

If your child is entitled to FSM and are on roll with us, and they are absent and  unable to attend for a short period of time, please contact the school to discuss how best the school can support with providing your child with their FSM. This could be a lunch provided by the school or a voucher.

If you have any questions regarding the school meals then please do not hesitate to contact the office.
